Import this model from the USA or Canada

Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.

Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

Model profile

Model history and generations

From launch to today

Two generations dominate the used import scene. The fourth generation (2010–2018, chassis DS/D2, sold under the standalone RAM brand from 2011) established the modern look and offered the coil-sprung and, on 2500s, a comfortable link-coil rear suspension that improved ride quality over rivals.

Trim levels and variants

US 2500s come in a wide range: Tradesman and Big Horn at the working end, then Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and the leather-lined Limited at the top, plus the off-road-oriented Power Wagon (gas-only, with a locking front differential and winch).

North American market and suitability

Used availability in the USA

Heavy-duty trucks are everywhere in the US, and the 2500 used pool is large and varied.

When importing makes sense

The RAM 2500 suits anyone who genuinely needs heavy-duty towing and hauling: horse and livestock owners, boat and caravan owners, motorsport teams, or businesses moving heavy loads.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Reliability and common problems

The Cummins engine itself is famously durable, but the surrounding systems have known weak points. The Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure fuel pump fitted to 2019-onward diesels has a reputation for catastrophic failure that can contaminate the entire fuel system — a documented history and awareness of this risk are essential, and some owners fit protective measures.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

How US versions differ

US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Why import a used RAM 2500 from the USA?

Because nothing in Europe matches its heavy-duty towing and hauling capability, and the US used market offers a deep choice of well-equipped diesel and gas trucks. The value depends on the individual truck and the total landed cost including VAT.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

How is import VAT treated when importing a RAM Ram 2500 Pickup?

Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.

Cummins diesel or 6.4 HEMI gas?

The Cummins offers far more torque and better durability for heavy towing but costs more and demands emissions-system care; the 6.4 HEMI is cheaper and simpler but thirstier.

What is the CP4 fuel pump problem?

The high-pressure fuel pump on 2019+ diesels can fail and contaminate the fuel system. Check its history; some owners fit protective devices or bypass kits.

Can I register a RAM 2500 easily in Germany?

It is possible but adds complexity around weight class, lighting and licence category, which the individual approval process addresses. Plan for these steps.

What mileage is acceptable on a diesel 2500?

Cummins diesels routinely exceed 100,000 miles with life left, provided the maintenance and emissions systems were properly cared for.

Is USCar Trader a dealer?

No. We are an independent broker for used US vehicles, without dealer margin or manufacturer partnership.
